On May 23rd, the Second Regional Education Conference “15 years with eduballs – assumed and actual effects of using of educational balls eduball” organized by the Department of Team Sports took place at the Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences.
The conference was held to improve the qualifications of school teachers, working with children at the elementary and secondary school level, and to promote the development of educational programs by EDUball.
During the opening conference, which was held in P4 building, among others spoke: Jerzy Michalak – Vice President of the Lower Saxony Regional Council, Jacek Sutryk – Director of the Department of Social Affairs of the Wrocław City Hall, Janusz Wrzal – Lower Silesia Vice-Curator of Education.
The conference was held by the Rector of Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences, Assoc. prof. Andrzej Rokita – Head of the Department of Team Sports Games, one of the co-creators (together withTadeusz Rzepa, PhD) of the idea of using educational balls “EDUball”. The Rector, seeing the attendance and interest in the conference, drew attention to the need to organize this type of events for the environment related to the education of preschool and early school children.
Representatives of our University, including all Vice-Rectors, Deans and Vice-Deans, took part in the conference, which significantly raised the importance of the event, for which we would like to thank the organizers.
Among the guests who came to the conference were also prof. Wiesław Osiński (Poznań University of Physical Education), Assoc. prof. Danuta Umiastowska (University of Szczecin), Assoc. prof. Michał Bronikowski (Poznań University of Physical Education), Assoc. prof. Grażyna Kosiba (University of Physical Education in Kraków), Assoc. prof. Eligiusz Madejski (University of Physical Education in Kraków), Assoc. prof.Dorota Groffik (Academy of Physical Education in Katowice).
The conference consisted of three parts. The plenary session featured:
- Prof. Tadeusz Koszczyc – Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences – Physical education in early school education (integrated education) – general competences and skills of the student (new Core Curriculum 2017),
- Assoc. prof. Michał Bronikowski – Child’s physical activity as a way to a better future,
- Assoc. prof. Andrzej Rokita – Movement that develops the mind – the use of EDUball educational balls in early school and preschool education.
The second part was a panel discussion, which was very well received by the conference participants. It was attended by: Assoc. prof. Marta Wieczorek Assoc. prof. Danuta Umiastowska Assoc. prof. Michał Broniowski, Elżbieta Szala, PhD (therapist – Wrocław), Małgorzata Naskręt, PhD (therapist-Poznań), Małgorzata Pyra (Vice Director ZS nr 11 Wrocław), Tadeusz Rzepa, PhD. The moderators of the discussion were Assoc. prof.Andrzej Rokita and Ireneusz Cichy, PhD.
The discussion concerned the use of educational balls over the past fifteen years, and was very interesting, as evidenced by personal, emotional statements. Moreover, the questions asked by conference participants concerned practical solutions related to the use of educational balls.
The conference ended with practical workshops, which took place in the Multifunctional Hall and were very popular.
Ireneusz Cichy, PhD conducted classes entitled: “Basketball alphabet” with children who are starting their adventure with basketball and training at the 1st Sports Club of Ślęza Wrocław.
Sara Wawrzyniak, PhD conducted classes entitled: “Interdisciplinary use of EDUballs in preschool and early school education” with third-grade students of School Complex No. 9 in Wrocław.
Organized by employees and PhD students of the Department of Team Sports Games and third-year students of physical education, the conference confirmed the organizers’ belief in the importance of meetings of many groups with one goal, which is comprehensive preparation of the child for active functioning in the surrounding world.
