EDUball in Singapore

Between the October 29th and November 5th, 2017. employees of the Department of Team Sports Games under the supervision of Assoc. prof. Andrzej Rokita  participated in a scientific and training trip to Singapore. At the invitation of Tan Swee Kheng, PhD, who deals with educational kinesiology among preschool and school-age children the head of the department, and also  Sara Wawrzyniak, PhD and Ireneusz Cichy, PhD went to one of the most developed countries in Asia. Mr. Swee Kheng was also a doctoral student of Prof. Robert M. Malina – Doctor Honoris Causa of our University. The trip was both scientific and training in nature.

Prof. Rokita’s team during their stay of more than a week, four times had the opportunity to present the results of scientific research using EDUballs in early school and preschool education.

One of the lectures was delivered at the Ministry of Education of Singapore – Department of Physical Education and Sports. A positive effect of this meeting was the opportunity to conduct lectures and practical workshops in two integrated schools in Singapore (Grace Orchard School and Rainbow Center Margaret Drive). Both the lectures and classes  turned out to be very popular, and a tangible result of these meetings was an invitation to next year’s Educational Conference, organized by the Ministry of Education of Singapore.

Another lecture was presented at the Department of Physical Education & Sport Science, National Institute of Education, Singapore. After the lecture, the entire EDUball Team was asked to conduct exercise classes using EDUballs for students of the Faculty of Physical Education. The classes were recorded by Institute employees for training purposes. The visit to the National Institute of Education Singapore by Prof. Andrzej Rokita resulted in an invitation to next year’s August Scientific and Methodological Conference organized by the Institute and the will to sign a letter of intent between the two universities.  Thanks to this collaboration, both our University and the Department of Physical Education & Sport Science at the National Institute of Education in Singapore, would support the pursuit of developing and strengthening beneficial cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of education and science. This includes educational and scientific exchanges, fostering mutual contacts for the exchange of students, doctoral candidates, and academic staff, and supporting mutual contacts for the exchange of research programs carried out by specialized university units.

The visit to Singapore also included the implementation of five-day scientific research using MovAlyzeR in the development of graphomotor skills in children with special educational needs, which was conducted under the supervision of Tan Swee Kheng,PhD in a specialized therapeutic center.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Tan Swee Kheng, PhD thanks to whom the implementation of such an intense and valuable trip in terms of science and training was logistically possible.
